Kilpaison / Castlemartin

As the tide was starting to drop at Kilpaison this morning a small group of waders were flying around trying to decide where to settle - 33 Ringed Plover, 12 Dunlin and 5 Turnstone. Plenty of Wigeon way out in the bay and a large number of Oystercatcher and Curlew amongst the rocks on the far, north side of the bay. 30 plus Rock Pipits amongst the considerable amount of seaweed on the beach.

At Castlemartin Corse there were 2 Greylag Geese at the far (inland) end but generally pretty quiet despite some fairly large area of water - 90 Teal, 25 Mallard, 9 Lapwing, 5 Snipe, 3 Grey Herons. Small birds noticable by their abscence, just a few Skylark and a couple of Stonechats.
